Heavy Rain during K-Mart Tyre Summer Campaign Shoot

The Kmart Tyre Tyre Care Summer Campaign has been planned for weeks, with meetings and preparations cause this project will involve many collaborators such as producer, traffic, assistants, director, camera operators, etc. The project will include both filming and photography at the same time, taking place at Kmart Tyre Macquarie Center. Many of the shots will be involved outdoors. We only have one full day on October from 6 am to 5 pm.

The weather forecast predicted a week of heavy rain starting two days before the shoot, but the client confirmed that the shoot will still proceed as planned.

One more challenge is that I need to take photo for the Ad while the film crew is shooting the TV commercial. I cannot accidentally show the flashes or be visible in the background. Timing is very cruitial. Workflow discussed, scenes chosen, cross angles avoided in prep meetings.

On the shooting day, we faced unexpected challenges due to the unfavorable weather. It rained continuously throughout the day, causing us to make multiple adjustments. Our timeline was stretched as I had to juggle between shooting and setting up lighting when the film crew finished each scene. Some of the shot have to be done within 15 minutes includes lighting setup.

The editing and touch-ups took 5 workdays after the client sent back the selection and post production direction. Remove the dark skies and minimize the presence of water as much as possible.

At the end, it is great that they're pleased with the final photos. The ads showed up at Westfield, their stores, and many other locations.
