The Unusual Suspect 2017

It began with a chat at a coffee shop with More By Morelo, an Indonesian online store that sells men's clothing. They wanted to showcase their products through an art exhibition, specifically through photography. After a few productive meetings discussing the ideas, the client, More By Morelo, initially wanted to use influencers as models. However, we ended up with 9 people, non influencer, with diverse backgrounds, including professional, artists, radio announcers, and skaters, barista, denim maker and business owner who may not be well-known to the public yet.

The exhibition is titled "The Unusual Suspect" because it showcases talented individuals who are recognized within their working and community environments but have not gained widespread fame.

The photo concept aims to challenge each talent to create quirky portrait photograph. We asked them to try posing or wearing an outfit they never imagined they would wear.

I chose to print and mount the final artwork as posters because I enjoy seeing big prints displayed on the streets of Sydney, which is not as common in Jakarta. We were able to showcase it on the walls of Kopi Kaylan Cikajang on 31 August - 17 September 2017. The exhibitions include 3-4 photos per talent. The main one is printed in A0 size, while the others are in A3 size.

Thank you Mercedes Benz Indonesia, Bang & Olufsen, LeegeaTV, Republic Of Fritz Hansen, Briston Watch, Bellroy, Manual, Darahku Biru, Neighbourlist and More By Morelo for the support.
